The report said that EDF is deciding to sell the stake as part of its ongoing campaign to sell off some EUR5 billion of assets.

As per media reports, the move would allow EDF to hold majority control over British Energy, which operates eight nuclear power stations and is said to be the UK’s biggest power generator by volume.

EDF has also planned to sell its electricity distribution network in the UK and the sale process is already in progress, reported Reuters quoting British press. According to British press, the interested buyers include industrial players, investment funds and government pension funds.

Separately, EDF is also working on an asset swap with E.ON, reported Reuters quoting La Tribune.
