Company’s this announcement follows discussions with industry regulator Ofgem on its recent Energy Supply Probe. While Ofgem found the energy market works well, it was concerned that residential electricity customers without gas could not get the benefits some other customers receive.
According to EDF Energy, residential electricity customers in London, and the southeast and the southwest parts of the UK, not connected to the mains gas network will receive a minimum GBP8 per year off their bills. Those customers who pay by direct debit will see a GBP24 annual reduction from their bills.
As a result, this announcement brings savings for electricity customers not connected to the mains gas network in line with those of our dual-fuel customers. The reduction will be automatically applied to all eligible accounts, according to EDF Energy.
Eva Eisenschimmel, COO of EDF Energy Customers Branch, said: “After discussions with Ofgem, we have decided to change. We are committed to providing competitive prices for all our customers.”
