EDF Energies Nouvelles, a company engaged in the production of electricity through renewable sources, has signed a contract with United Solar Ovonic to purchase 30MWp in modules.

<p>The contract with US manufacturer United Solar Ovonic covers 30MWp in modules, with over half of the volume under option, and is based on thin-film technology, which allows greater flexibility in use.<br /><br />EDF Energies Nouvelles intends to use these modules as a priority for building-integrated applications on large industrial or commercial roofs. The contract provides for deliveries between October 2007 and March 2009. <br /><br />After a first purchase contract signed earlier, mainly for ground-based solar farms, EDF Energies Nouvelles is pursuing its policy of purchasing proven and diversified technologies on competitive terms to benefit from the significant growth of the solar photovoltaic market.</p>
