Designed to capture the imagination of public, the center features hands-on displays and guided tours of the power plant, which generated power for 1.5 million British homes since April 1983.
EDF Energy chief executive Vincent de Rivaz and MP Damian Collins had launched the new centre at the Dungeness B site in Kent.
Commenting on the new learning center, de Rivaz said opening it is an ‘important milestone’ for the company.
"It will enable thousands of people from the local community and beyond to see nuclear power and to learn about how we safely generate low carbon electricity for 1.5million homes," Rivaz added.
"EDF Energy enjoys strong support from the local community around Dungeness B and we are committed to being as open as possible here and at all our nuclear power stations in the UK."
