Spanning across 14,000 acres in Floyd and Briscoe Counties, the project features 100 Vestas-developed wind turbines to generate electricity to serve 55,000 Texas homes annually.
The facility will supply electricity through the competitive renewable energy zone (CREZ) transmission lines.
Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) local power market will purchase the power generated from the wind farm under long-term, fixed-price energy purchase agreement.
EDF acquired the Longhorn project in 2013 from Renewable Energy Systems Americas (RES Americas). RES constructed the project under a balance-of-plant construction contract.
EDF Renewable Services is responsible for balance-of-plant operations and maintenance services for the facility.
The project marks the fifth wind facility to be commissioned by the company in Texas followed by 161MW Spinning Spur 1, 161MW Spinning Spur 2, 150MW Bobcat Bluff and 200MW Hereford facilities.
By the end of this year, EDF Energies intends to have 1GW of installed capacity in Texas.
