Ecotricity Group Limited’s (Ecotricity) 290 feet tall generator on a wind farm at Conisholme in Lincolnshire stood damaged with one of its giant 65 feet blades torn off, after it was hit by an octopus-shaped unidentified flying object (UFO). The other blades of the turbine are severely damaged. The company said that it is investigating to know the cause of the problem. The Ministry of Defense said that it did not investigate UFO sightings unless there was evidence of a potential threat to UK.
Dorothy Willows, who lives a mile and a half from the crash site, said: The lights were moving across the sky towards the wind farm. Then I saw a low flying object. It was skimming across the sky towards the turbines.
The health and safety executive described the damage as a unique incident, and the energy firm Ecotricity which owns the 20-turbine site say it has no explanation.
We are struggling to find an answer, yes, and it has been quite interesting to read the reports in the press about what people have seen, Dale Vince from the company told BBC Radio Four’s Today programme..
It sounds unbelievable but actually we don’t have any explanation at the moment. Give us a few days and if there is a rational explanation we will find it.
Robert Palmer, chairman of East Lindsey district council, has also reported seeing strange lights in the sky in the evening before the incident. And another witness, John Harrison, has described looking at the farm out of his window and seeing a massive ball of light with tentacles going right down to the ground.
Baffled power chiefs said of the smash in Conisholme, Lincs: “We have a team investigating.” There was no trace of the missing blade. A UFO expert said: “We are very excited.”
The object that struck the turbine at Conisholme near Louth has dodged others surrounding it, and last night experts had no explanation for what it was.
UFO expert Russ Kellett, of Flying Saucer Review, told how dozens of reports of mystery objects poured in before the crash. He said: “Balls of light were seen in the sky and the MoD has no explanation. We are very, very excited about this.” Last night the incident was the talk of the internet. It was dubbed the “Octopus UFO” because of the tentacles and how the lights appeared joined in formation.
The MoD said of the latest scare: “Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting.”
