As a subcontractor to Siem Offshore Contractors, Ecosse has mobilized its SCAR ploughing technology by road from Aberdeen to Gdansk, Poland that has cleared several thousand boulders including some more than 13ft tall from the cable routes, making 260 individual passes in varying soil conditions.

Situated around 32km north of the Rugen Island in the western Baltic, the EnBW Baltic 2 project features 80 Siemens wind turbines of 3.6MW each at the 27km2 site, which has a wide array of soil conditions from fine sands to gravels and cobbles.

Ecosse managing director Mike Wilson said having delivered the project on time and on budget, the company now expects to pursue a frame agreement for similar work with Siem, which is bidding for a range of such renewables schemes.
