The Polish Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (PolSEFF²) is implemented via the country’s commercial banks.
It will be on-lent through local banks to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The loans will finance investments to replace or refurbish heating, cooling, electric and associated systems in order to lower energy bills of the companies and reduce carbon emissions.
PolSEFF2 builds on the first stage of the programme that allowed several Polish businesses to invest in energy efficient solutions over the last three years.
The Polish National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW) will provide investment grants for the framework and the European Commission will offer technical cooperation.
EBRD director for Poland Grzegorz Zielinski said: "Small and medium-sized businesses are the engine of our economy. Projects like PolSEFF are of paramount importance for the long-term energy sustainability in Poland and good for business.
NFOSiGW president Malgorzata Skucha said: "Targeting energy-saving investments by SMEs is fundamental for the economic development in Poland, but it is also crucial for achieving our country’s goals in environmental protection.
"This new programme will demonstrate the financial and environmental viability of investing in the best available energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies across all Polish SME sectors."
The EBRD has to date financed over 2,000 energy efficiency projects in Polish SMEs worth over €190m.
It has resulted in total energy savings of 342GWh per year and 102,000 tonnes of CO2 emission reductions.
