Eaton has introduced the latest version of its Intelligent Power Manager software, which promises to extend runtime of virtual environments during power outages.

The new software comes with VMware vSphere 5.1 virtualization platform compatibility and a new load shedding capability.

The company said its updated software is designed to extend available battery backup time for IT and data center managers when critical businesses are compromised by power outages.

Eaton Distributed Power Quality division VP and GM Hervé Tardy commented, "Our latest software innovation is designed to provide enhanced business value for customers by systematically shedding virtual workloads to significantly increase available backup time without the need for additional hardware investments."
