Environmental Applied Research Technology House - EARTH (Canada) Corporation, which specializes in the extraction of hydrocarbons from produced water, has granted a license to Weatherford International to manufacture its TORR technology.

The agreement consists of a two year, renewable, non-exclusive, worldwide (except Canada and US) license, which will allow Weatherford to manufacture and commercialize EARTH’s TORR application.

Weatherford products and services span the drilling, completion and production cycles of oil and natural gas. The company specializes in the development of production-enhancing technologies, which add significant value to the upstream oil and gas industry.

The association will benefit Weatherford by enabling it to offer its clients a new production improving tool, while also enabling EARTH to connect with a customer base it would otherwise not have access to.

Weatherford’s global strategy focuses on several drivers, such as commercializing new technologies to enhance well productivity and reduce production costs. TORR will offer significant benefits to our clients by improving the recovery of residual hydrocarbons entrained in produced water which are not usually extracted through conventional methods, said E Lee Colley, senior vice-president of Weatherford.
