Duke Energy Power Services has filed plans with the Florida Public Service Commission for a 500 MWe gas-fired plant at New Smyrna Beach. The combined cycle plant, with an expected cost of $160 million, is due to enter service in 2001.
The Utilities Commission of New Smyrna Beach entered a contract for 30 MWe of plant output. The rest will be offered to the wholesale power market.
