CPS Energy will buy the output and associated renewable energy credits from this Los Vientos I Windpower Project in Willacy County under a 25-year agreement.

Duke Energy Renewables, a commercial business unit of Duke Energy, is now planning to begin construction of the wind farm.

The power project, to be sited on 30,000 acres of leased land, is expected to commence commercial operation in December 2012.

The facility will generate enough electricity to power approximately 60,000 homes, and it is Duke Energy’s fourth wind farm in Texas.

Duke Energy Renewables owns nearly 1,000MW of power generating capacity at nine wind farms in the US.
