The projects are the 20MW Dogwood solar power project in Halifax County, near Scotland Neck; 5MW Windsor Cooper Hill Solar in Bertie County near Windsor; and 5MW Bethel Price Solar in Pitt County, near Bethel.
EPC contractor SunEnergy1 is constructing the PV projects, which will feature 140,000 high efficiency Virtus II PV modules comprising a mix of 72-cell 300W and 305W models from ReneSola.
The projects, which are expected to complete by the end of 2013, will sell their output through long-term, fixed price contracts.
The new projects bring the company’s wholly owned commercial solar farms to 20 across the US.
Duke Energy Renewables president Greg Wolf said the company will be expanding its presence in Eastern North Carolina and bringing significant community development benefits to these counties.
"The projects generate valuable tax revenue, provide supplemental income for landowners and bring clean, renewable energy to the state," added Wolf.
ReneSola president Kevin Chen said the company has inked a long-term relationship with Duke Energy Renewables and SunEnergy 1.
"Seeing these projects come to fruition with ReneSola modules, built by one of the most credible EPCs and developers in the Southeast, is a true testament to the strides ReneSola has made in the U.S. market since early 2012," added Chen.
"We look forward to working closely with Duke Energy Renewables and SunEnergy1 in 2014 and beyond to help them fulfill on their pipelines."
