The project is valued at $800m and is a part of Qatar’s power transmission and distribution network upgrade.
Thrasos Thrasyvoulou, the managing director of Al Habtoor-Specon, said: “It is definitely in our plans to enter into a similar alliance in terms of power transmission and sub-station work in Abu Dhabi.”
After a negotiation process for two months, the MEP contractor has entered into a MoU with Vinci Energies, with an official ceremony to be held in Qatar in July.
In order to diversify its activities into the medium and high-voltage electrical work, the MoU with Vinci Energies would be a strategic move, stated Thrasyvoulou.
Al Habtoor-Specon is a wing of the Al Habtoor Engineering group, which is 45% owned by Leighton Holdings.
