The wind project will include 69 1.6MW GE wind turbines and generate enough renewable energy to power about 25,000 homes in the region.
The project is spread acorss a 15,000a site in Bloomfield, McKinley and Sigel townships of the Huron County, and Minden and Delaware townships in Sanilac County.
DTE Energy-Electric president and CEO remarked, "This brings DTE Energy’s total wind investment to more than 700 megawatts of company-owned or contracted projects and we’re confident we’ll meet the state’s renewable energy goals by 2015."
The company intends to set up its next wind project in Huron County by the end of 2013, to add another 110 MW to the company’s renewable energy portfolio.
DTE also plans to add an additional 1,000 MW of renewable energy capacity and increase its energy sales by 10%, by 2015.
