The Minden, Sigel and McKinley wind farms together will generate approximately 110MW of electricity.

The power plants will be sited on nearly 15,000 acres in Bloomfield, Sigel and McKinley townships in Huron County, and Minden and Delaware townships in Sanilac County.

The company said it has acquired easements on 80,000 acres in Huron County, as well as completed wind and wildlife studies at the three wind farm sites.

DTE Energy is reviewing bids from turbine manufacturers, and it is expected that approximately 50 wind turbines will be needed to generate the power at the wind farms.

DTE Energy’s total investment is expected to be approximately $225m, and it will also seek a construction company and begin the permitting process that will lead to construction next year.
