DS Construction has won a 1000MW hydro power contract in India, marking the infrastructure company's first foray into the industry.

The contract, a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) arrangement, is for the Naying hydroelectric project in Arunachal Pradesh. The structure is to be constructed on the Siyom river in the Indian state’s West Siang district at a cost of approximately US$1.1B, although the project cost anticipated by the feasibility report is US$702M.

The project is to be completed over a period of 40 years, and will produce its power from four 250MW units.

DS Construction’s usual projects include roads and highways.
