Dril-Quip has secured a contract from Sabah Shell Petroleum Company to provide drilling and production equipments for Shell’s Malikai tension-leg platform (TLP), located offshore Malaysia.

US-based deep water drilling and production equipment manufacturer, Dril-Quip will complete the order through its wholly-owned subsidiary Dril-Quip Asia Pacific, along with the company’s local representative UMW Petrodril.

The Malikai TLP project is situated about 1,800ft in water.

Under the contract, Dril-Quip will supply subsea wellheads, tensioner systems, risers, production trees, injection trees and tieback connectors for the project.

The delivery of the systems is expected to commence in 2014.

The Malikai TLP project is undertaken to develop the Malikai oil and gas fields located about 110km offshore Malaysian state Sabah.

The TLP, once constructed will have facilities that can process 60,000 barrels of oil and 1.4 million cubic meters per day of gas.
