The UK’s Drax Group has announced the appointment of Dorothy Thompson as chief executive and executive director. Since graduation from the London School of Economics in 1983, Thompson spent a decade in banking before joining Powergen. Joining InterGen in 1998, she rose to become head of the company’s European business and will take up her new appointment in September.

In a related story, Mitsui Babcock has reportedly won a maintenance contract at the Drax station worth at least £30 million ($53.1 million). The deal follows last month’s £6 million ($10.6 million) NOx reduction contract, also won by Mitsui. The four-year maintenance contract covers the main boiler and pressure parts.
