The company’s retail electric subsidiary, DPL Energy Resources (DPLER), will execute the transaction.

MC Squared Energy serves approximately 2,000 customer accounts in northern Illinois, US.

DPL president and CEO Paul Barbas said that MC Squared’s business model will complement DPL’s existing Ohio retail market activity and provide a platform to expand into other markets.

MC Squared Energy president Chuck Sutton said that the acquisition by DPL provides MC Squared with an opportunity to expand its rapidly growing business model across the competitive retail power markets within the PJM and MISO transmission network.

DPLER currently markets electricity to commercial and business customers in Ohio.
