The cooperation between the companies started in early 2008. The objective was to develop a technical concept for an integrated energy supply that would combine an advanced hard coal-fired power plant and a gas and steam turbine power plant.
Both companies said that they have decided to step back from implementing the concept for different reasons. However, future cooperation between the two companies on other projects has not been ruled out.
Dow is still keen to drive forward an energy concept for an efficient supply of energy to the production facilities at the Stade site, and achieve its long-term goal of securing the international competitiveness of the Stade chemical plant by guaranteeing a cost-effective supply of electricity and steam.
