US-based The Dow Chemical Company has selected Wood Group Mustang to provide construction services for the development of gas pipelines in Texas.

Under the contract, Wood Group will provide engineering, field services and construction management services for the construction of around 140 miles of ethane, ethylene, propane and propylene pipelines, and associated interconnections in Texas.

In addition, the company will also perform modification work on station between Dow Texas Operations in Freeport and facilities at Mt. Belvieu.

The pipelines and station upgrade work is part of Dow’s ethylene unit that is being built to benefit from the cost-advantaged feedstocks available from increasing supplies of US shale gas.

Wood Group Mustang will execute the contract work through its Houston and Angleton, Texas offices.

The company had earlier provided a full spectrum of services for Dow’s pipeline assets, including support for the company’s Texas pipeline integrity program.
