Under the contract, Doosan Skoda Power will be responsible for the supply, installation and commissioning of 300MW, three-casing steam turbine and generator.
Doosan Skoda Power Latin America manager David Zeman said: "The project will be the largest installation by Doosan Skoda Power in a combined cycle plant in Latin America and confirms the strength of Doosan steam turbine technology in territories operating on 60Hz or 50Hz grids."
In 2015, the consortium selected Siemens to deliver two SGT6-8000H gas turbines and two SGen-2000H generators for the project.
The Sener-led consortium is the engineering procurement and construction contractor for the proposed $477m project, which will be operated by Mexico’s state-owned electric company Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
As per the EPC contract, the consortium will provide services including the basic and detailed engineering, the procurement of all equipment, materials, spare parts and special tools, and the construction, testing and commissioning of the plant.
Planned to be built in Sonora in north-western Mexico, the project is expected to meet the growing power demands in the region. Energy demand in northern Mexico is estimated to grow by 3.6% annually.
Scheduled to be commissioned in November 2017 in the municipality of Empalme, the project is expected to generate about 1,500 jobs during the construction phase.
