Korean engineering major Doosan Heavy has confirmed that it has signed a letter of intent with Westinghouse to supply steam generators and nuclear reactors as well as nuclear reactor vessel heads for Units 1 and 2 of the first order to have been placed by China for third-generation nuclear reactors. The plants will be located in Sanmen and Haiyang, China.

The final agreement for Doosan to manufacture and supply two nuclear reactors and four steam generators to Sanmen and Haiyang by the end of 2012 is expected to be signed within the year.

The Chinese nuclear power plant market will see the construction of 31 of the new type 1,000 MW nuclear reactors by 2020, emerging as the world’s largest new nuclear power reactor market, the company said in a statement.
