The project features 111 Siemens 3.6MW wind turbines and will generate enough electricity to power about 400,000 Danish households or 4% of total Danish electricity consumption.

Earlier in June 2010, Siemens was awarded a contract to supply 111 wind turbines, each with a 3.6MW capacity and a rotor diameter of 120m, which the company produced at its plant in Brande, Denmark.

Under the contract, Siemens manufactured, installed and commissioned the wind turbines over a surface area of 88km2 in water depths of up to 19m in less than nine months and will also provide maintenance service for the first five years.

The project, which is owned by DONG Energy (50%), Pension Danmark (30%) and PKA (20%), has become fully operational in June 2013.

The Danish Government called for bids in May 2009 and granted development rights to DONG Energy in June 2010. The developer commenced construction work in late 2011.

Siemens Energy Sector wind power division CEO Markus Tacke said that the company has completed the installation of the 111 turbines on schedule, despite some challenging weather conditions.
