The power restoration will help the company address the needs of the customers with Hurricane Irene-related outages.

The company said restoration in Northern Virginia, where Irene has lesser impact, will be completed and it expects to restore power to about 75% of the 1.2 million customers affected by 31 August.

Dominion has already restored 50% of the reported outages and expects to restore services in the extremely hit areas by the week end, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Earlier, the company reduced power supplies by 50% from the plant so as to ensure the grid stability in the situations where severe winds hit the electricity grid.
