The loan is provided to support three altering current Cadmium Telluride (Cd-Te) thin film photovoltaic (PV) solar generation facilities in California.

DOE is offering a conditional commitment for a $680m loan guarantee to the 230MW Antelope Valley (AV) Solar Ranch 1 project and $1.88bn in loans to support the Desert Sunlight project, and a $1.93bn to support the Topaz Solar project.

The electricity generated from AV solar facility, located in the Antelope Valley area, will be sold to Pacific Gas & Electric.

The Desert Sunlight project, located in eastern Riverside County, will be constructed in two phases.

The 300MW of electricity generated by phase I, will be sold to Pacific Gas & Electric, while 250MW of electricity generated by phase II will be sold to Southern California Edison.

The Topaz Solar project, located in eastern San Luis Obispo County, will sell the electricity to Pacific Gas & Electric.
