DMT plans to convert the gas into a source for useful, economical and ecological energy under a subsidized energy program with the results of the study expected to be released by June 2013.
Thus far, fluctuations in volume rendered the gas unusable; however, DMT will explore various methods to use the gas such as heating for neighboring buildings, conversion into electricity for the grid, using processed gas as part of the natural gas network and using the thermal energy from the burnt gas in the district heating grid.
The study will focus on decreasing the greenhouse gas emissions by burning the gas and reduce 8,000t of harmful methane emissions.
