US-based Distributed Power Inc has announced that it will pursue ventures to develop and acquire hydroelectric projects in the People’s Republic of China.
The company, which developed several hydro facilities for China in the early 1990s, is considering several partnerships for hydro companies in China, and is also evaluating acquisitions. All of the schemes being evaluated involve exisiting, operating hydro projects with positive cash flow.
The People’s Republic of China has recently enacted legislation and other measures that require local governments which own hydroelectric projects to sell them to private enterprises.
