The company plans to sell approximately 2,800 carats of rough diamonds from material recovered and processed as well as approximately 4,000 carats of other rough diamonds.
For the planned tender, the firm will offer rough diamonds including eight individual 2-3 carat rough diamonds, as well as one 10.93 carat special (+10.8 carat rough diamonds), and four additional individual specials which have a size ranging between approximately 11.72 carats and about 18.05 carats.
The rough diamonds tender follows continued processing of material by the company in the +1.0mm to -26mm size fractions in addition to limited processing of material from various larger size fractions during the period.
The two processes, which are currently underway, are designed to support the continued advancement of objectives to comply with the recommendations of the updated NI43-101 Technical Report.
Diamcor noted that all the rough diamonds recovered till date are incidental to the ongoing commissioning and testing exercises performed at the project.
Said to be the third largest diamond mine in the world, the Venetia mine accounts for more than 50% of annual diamond output in South Africa.
Diamcor acquired the Krone-Endora from De Beers Consolidated Mines in February 2011, including prospecting rights over the farms Krone 104 and Endora 66, which represent a combined surface area of around 5,888ha directly adjacent to De Beers’ Venetia Diamond Mine.
