The Serbian Electric Power Company (EPS) is to receive a loan worth US$36M from Germany’s DfW bank for the reconstruction of the Bajina Basta hydroelectric power plant, under an agreement signed in Belgrade

The loan has a five-year grace period and is repayable over 15 years. A tender to select the contractor for the project will be issued early next year, with work to start in spring 2008 and be completed in 2012.

The aim of the project is to modernise the Bajina Basta hydroelectric power plant and secure reliable electricity production for the next 30 years.
