The 7.2MW Eco Flow Unit at Banja hydropower plant in Albania as been successfully synchronized with the national grid – marking the first electricity delivered from Statkraft’s Devoll hydropower project.

The synchronisation was achieved at the end of August and allowed Statkraft to begin trial operations at the plant, which also has two 33MW turbine units in addition to the small eco-flow turbine.

As part of the same project, Statkraft is constructing the 184MW Mogliche hydropower plant, expected to come into operations in 2018. The two projects are expected to combine to produce about 700GWh annually, increasing Albania’s electricity generation by 17%.
