The well is the first exploration well in PL 321, which was awarded in the 18th licensing round in June 2004.

The well was drilled to a vertical depth of 2,039 meters below the sea surface, and it was terminated in bedrock.

The water depth is 224 meters. The well will now be permanently plugged and abandoned.

Well 6306/6-2 was drilled by the Aker Barents drilling facility, which will now proceed to PL 469 in the Norwegian Sea to drill wildcat well 6407/12-2 where GDF SUEZ E&P Norge is the operator.

Partners in the PL 321 are Talisman Energy Norge AS with 20% share, StatoilHydro Petroleum AS with 20%, Det norske (operator) with 25% and Aker Exploration AS with 35% stake.
