The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has given consent to Det norske oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) to use the Transocean Barents mobile drilling facility to drill the Jette field.

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has given consent to Det norske oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) to use the Transocean Barents mobile drilling facility to drill the Jette field.

The oil and gas field is located in the southern part of the North Sea, 180km west of Haugesund.

Last month a plan for development and operation (PDO) for Jette field was approved, the field will be developed with a seabed facility tied in to the Jotun field.

The company said the consent will cover production drilling and completion of Jette Sør 25/8-A-1 AH and Jette Nord 25/8-B-1 H.

It also covers drilling of observation well 25/8 A 1 H and drilling of shallow gas pilot well 25/8-U-25.

The facility’s planned position is 2° 22′ 8.194” East and 59° 24′ 12.400” North.

The water depth at the site is 127m and drilling activities will begin later this year and Jette’s planned production start is during the first quarter of 2013..

The drilling is expected to be complete in 155 days.

Built at the Aker Stord shipyard in Norway, Transocean Barents is a sixth-generation semi-submersible drilling facility of the H-6e type.

The vessel commissioned in 2009, is owned and operated by Transocean Norway.

Jette is a oil and gas field in the southern part of the North Sea, 180 kilometres west of Haugesund. A Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) for Jette was approved in February 2012. The plan is to develop the field with a seabed facility tied in to the Jotun field.
Jette’s planned production start is during the first quarter of 2013.
The consent covers production drilling and completion of Jette Sør 25/8-A-1 AH and Jette Nord 25/8-B-1 H, drilling of observation well 25/8 A 1 H and drilling of shallow gas pilot well 25/8-U-25.

The drilling activities are expected to start during the second quarter of 2012. The duration is estimated at about 155 days.
Transocean Barents is a sixth-generation semi-submersible drilling facility of the H-6e type. The facility was built at the Aker Stord shipyard in Norway and was commissioned in 2009.
Transocean Barents is owned and operated by Transocean Norway, with head office in Stavanger. The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in 2009.
