Damen will build all the 14 tugs at its Romania-based Galati shipyard and deliver the tugs from 2014 onwards.

The company is building the tugs on two models. First nine units are based on the company’s recently introduced 3212 model and five tugs units will be of 2810 design, with 80t and 50t of bollard pull, respectively.

Damen’s naval architects and designers modified the layout, systems and performance work as per KOC’s requirements.

The new tugs will be assisting tankers at near-shore loading terminals and at single point moorings further offshore.

All the ships will be equipped with a fire fighting system to act immediately in case of emergency.
