The US subsidiary of European transport firm DAHER-TLI has opened a new manufacturing shop.
The 90,000 square foot plant makes 7A Type A Containers, a full line of industrial packages, overpacks, liners, storage systems, machined components, and many other containers used in the nuclear industry.
The multi-million dollar investment in the new facility is part of parent company DAHER’s strategy for expanding its North American operations, which generated $200 million in revenue last year.
The company was responsible for transport of UF6 containers from Tenex in Russia to Paducah, Kentucky in 1999-2013, but is now looking to diversify.
"We are trying to grow into logistics," says DAHER-TLI managing partner Daren Condry. "We were handling radioactive materials initially, but now have additional services, such as our own trucking company, our engineering group, a brand-new facility in Kevil, Kentucky that washes UF6 cylinders, and storage facilities. We are more involved in services. Another area is manufacturing."
DAHER subsidiary Nuclear Cargo Service owns 90% of DAHER-TLI. Condry and Mark Lambert each own 5%.
"We are looking into every possible way to provide services to current customers and others, for example nuclear power plants. Nothing’s off the table," Condry said.
