Cummins has opened a new purpose built production facility dedicated to the manufacture and assembly of the Stamford P80 alternator range.

On 25 February Cummins Generator Technologies opened what it describes as a new purpose built, world-class production facility dedicated to the manufacture and assembly of the Stamford P80 alternator range.
As a result of this multi-million dollar investment, Cummins Generator Technologies will be able to meet increased demand for the popular range of alternators at reduced lead times. The new facility boasts a purpose built flow line, engineered material flow and fully integrated painting and test facilities.
Through best-in-class design, says Cummins, the Stamford P80 is built to meet the specific requirements of prime power, standby and critical protection environments.
The range of 4-pole, single and two bearing automatic voltage regulator controlled alternators spans 2000 – 5000kVA in low, medium and high voltages (up to 690V, 4160V and 13800V respectively). It also features an optimised output to weight ratio through an innovative cast and welded modular construction.
The Barnack Road facility in Stamford has a history dating back to the early years of the company’s foundation in 1904, to the extent that electrical products have become synonymous with the town.
