Crompton Lighting, a LED lighting manufacturer and a division of the Gerard Lighting Group, has introduced energy-efficient Luxeon-based XL LED Downlights to the Australian market.

Developed in collaboration with Future Lighting Solutions, which has provided engineering assistance, including LED and driver selection, the fixtures are claimed to consume 70% less energy and provide a longer 50,000-hour lamp life than their 50W MR16 halogen counterparts.

The new downlights, which feature Luxeon Rebel LEDs from Philips Lumileds, generate over 530 lumens of output with a colour temperature of 3000K that is comparable to a standard 50W MR16 halogen and have auto-dimming capability to avoid overheating.

The energy saving XL LED Downlights, registered under the Lighting Council of Australia’s Solid State Lighting Luminaire Quality Scheme, can be used for new installations or as retrofit for standard MR16 halogen fixtures to cut the greenhouse gas emissions by phasing out incandescent lamps.

Future Lighting Solutions regional technical manager John Philpott said that Crompton Lighting is a highly regarded Australian brand known for their emphasis on energy efficiency and this partnership is another step in the company’s efforts to drive LED lighting adoption in markets around the world.
