Manitoba’s Cree are demanding compensation in the region of C$300M (US$204M) for lands that were submerged 30 years ago by Canadian utility, Manitoba Hydro’s, reservoirs.
The native group alleges that Manitoba Hydro built the Nelson river hydro system by damming and diverting rivers as well as flooding vast areas of land owned by the Cree, without their consent.
