US-based CPS Energy and Silver Spring Networks have formed a collaboration to support the development of a smart grid project in Greater San Antonio area.

As per the agreed terms, Silver Spring will install a smart grid network for CPS Energy’s 740,000 electric and 340,000 natural gas customers in the region.

Through this partnership, both the companies will implement smart energy and Smart City technology across CPS Energy’s service territory.

CPS Energy president and CEO Doyle Beneby said that Silver Spring’s vision and world-class technology were an exciting addition to the New Energy Economy hub that is developing in the region.

Silver Spring Networks chairman and CEO Scott Lang said, "we look forward to partnering with CPS Energy to work to establish the United States’ most modern Smart City infrastructure, fueling innovation and economic growth for years to come."
