The Coulomb unit is currently being used to recharge two of city-owned converted plug-in Toyota Prius’. In addition, the ChargePoint station is also available for public use. Clean Fuel Connection, distributer of Coulomb, will be responsible for the maintenance of the charging station.
All drivers of plug-in vehicles can have access to the ChargePoint network by making a call to the number on each charging station, or signing up for a ChargePoint Network monthly access plan and obtaining a ChargePass smart card.
ChargePoint Network provides information on the charging status by SMS text or email notification, location of unoccupied charging stations via smart phones and includes authenticated access, authorized energizing, smart grid integration for utility load management with future V2G capabilities and a ChargePoint iPhone app.
Richard Lowenthal, CEO of Coulomb Technologies, said: “The city of Anaheim, like many US locations, had legacy non-networked charging stations installed in the 1990’s.
“These existing stations are throughout the city in employee parking lots, police department, train stations, and their fleet yard, and the city has a plan to replace these old stations with new networked charging stations.”
