Coryton Energy Co Ltd had complete debt financing for a 775 MWe natural-gas fired power plant to be built near the Shellhaven and BP Coryton refineries in Essex.
Total project cost is estimated to be $776 million. The financing was arranged by Credit Suisse First Boston, with seven additional underwriters brought in at closing; Bank of America/Nations, Hypovereinsbank, ABN AMRO, Banque Paribas, Societe General, KBC and Lloyds Bank.
The plant will be built by Bechtel. It will comprise two ABB gas turbines, two heat recovery steam generators and a single steam turbine. The plant is due to start operating in 2001.
