The move marks the first step in recommencing mining at Lerala project. Consulmet’s work on the project is planned to be completed by mid-November 2014.
KDL is also in talks with Consulmet to carry out supply and installation work after the design phase is completed.
The company plans to resume mining at Lerala in the end of 2015 after receiving the environmental impact assessment approvals.
KDL intends to revamp the plant to enable it to handle 200 tons per hour.
Lerala is expected to have mine life of seven years treating 1.4 million tons of ore each year, and produce around 357,000 carats per year.
Consulmet is engaged in the design, supply and construction of mineral processing plants for diamond producers.
