THE US BUREAU OF RECLAMATION has resumed work on the Wickiup dam seismic upgrade. The dam, located approximately 14.5km west of Lapine, in the state of Oregon, is being upgraded to meet current earthquake standards.
The contractor, Hayward Baker of Redding, California, will be using two large jet grout drill rigs on location that will be used over the next two years to install 850 jet grout columns measuring approximately 4.3m in diameter. The jet grout columns will strengthen the foundation of the dam.
