Bechtel is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the $899m Carroll County Energy Facility, which is scheduled to enter service in 2017.
Being developed by Advanced Power, the power generation facility will be operated by EthosEnergy.
The power plant is expected to create up to 700 jobs during construction phase and will source services and materials from local companies.
Bechtel Power general manager Scott Osborne said: "We will be using advanced emissions-control technology to make this plant one of the cleanest and most efficient natural gas power facilities in the US.
"This project continues our long history of delivering infrastructure projects in Ohio — with the support of skilled local workers — and we have already awarded $15m worth of contracts to local firms."
The engineering, procurement, and manufacturing works are already under way for the facility, which will feature two GE 7F.05 gas turbines and a D602 steam turbine capable of generating combined electricity for approximately 750,000 homes.
The facility will supply electricity to regional transmission organization PJM Interconnection.
