US-based Constellation Energy has terminated an agreement to sell a 550MW gas-fired power plant in west Texas to High Plains Diversified Energy Corp.

The company will retain ownership of the Quail Run power plant that provides energy to the west zone of the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas.

The facility will also provide power to customers in west Texas, including those served by StarTex Power, a retail electricity provider recently acquired by Constellation Energy.

The sale agreement was first announced by the company in December last year.

Constellation Energy supplies power, natural gas and energy products and services for homes and businesses across the continental US.
