Under the fiver-year contract, Aker Solutions will be ConocoPhillips’ main supplier of maintenance and modifications work offshore Norway.

The deal, however, has potential to be extended by up to three years and covers work on all installations at the Ekofisk and Eldfisk fields, offshore Norway.

Located at a water depth of 70m around 320km offshore Stavanger in block 2/7 in the Norwegian North Sea, the Eldfisk field is operated by ConocoPhillips with 35.11% stake.

The Ekofisk oil field is located in block 2/4 of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea about 320km southwest of Stavanger.

Work under the contract is scheduled to commence this month.

Aker Solutions said that the contract value will be based on the maintenance and modifications work which will be undertaken over the next five years. The vale could range between NOK1bn and NOK3bn over the period.

Additionally, Aker Solutions has been selected as one of three companies to compete for work on large, complex modifications projects at these fields.

The fiver-year contract has option for extension to up to three years.

Aker Solutions CEO Luis Araujo said: "We’re very pleased to secure these two major agreements with ConocoPhillips, which build on the strengths of our operations in Norway and our expertise in complex modifications."

Aker Solutions’ MMO unit in Stavanger and fabrication yard in Egersund will be responsible for managing and executing the work under the contracts.

Aker Solutions Norwegian operations head Per Harald Kongelf said: "The Ekofisk and Eldfisk installations comprise one of the largest maintenance and modifications portfolios offshore Norway and these contracts will help secure jobs in key parts of our Norwegian MMO business."
