The US Department of Defense has designated ConEdison Solutions, an energy services company based in White Plains, New York, as an approved provider of energy efficiency, renewable energy and water conservation services at Department of Defense and other government facilities in the US.

Announcement of the Department of Defense (DOD) program, managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, follows an announcement by the US Department of Energy (DOE) identifying ConEdison Solutions as one of the energy service providers chosen to help undertake a similar, energy efficiency initiative at federal facilities nationwide.

The company said that, like the DOE program, the DOD’s nationwide selection process also chose ConEdison Solutions as one of a group of approved providers. It has been designated as an approved energy services provider by the federal government since 2003.

Over the life of the program, the DOD initiative could finance and manage as much as $900 million in energy efficiency, renewable energy and water conservation projects at federal sites, said ConEdison Solutions.
DOD officials have said that the program is designed to help eliminate energy waste, increase energy efficiency, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, conserve water resources, and improve energy security in support of the DOD and other federal agencies.

Under these contracts, the contractor designs, constructs, and obtains the necessary financing for each project with the agency then making payments to the contractor over time from the energy savings. The contractor guarantees that the energy improvements will generate the savings it calculated. Once the contract ends, all continuing cost savings accrue to the agency.

ConEdison Solutions is an energy services company that provides power supply, renewable energy, sustainability services, and cost-effective energy services for commercial, industrial, residential, and government customers.
