Rebates range from $200 to $600 for installing eligible energy-efficient heating and air conditioning equipment. Rebates are also available for new Energy Star window air conditioners. The company is also providing incentives for new Energy Star refrigerators and free recycling of old, inefficient refrigerators and air conditioners.
In addition Con Edison will provide free programmable thermostats for central air-conditioning systems. Free surveys to evaluate building common areas and individual units for lighting, cooling- and heating-efficiency improvements, and incentives for these improvements, also form part of the programs.
The programs cover small businesses as well, for which the company will provide free energy surveys, free upgrades such as CFLs and water-heater thermostats, incentives up to 70% for major lighting, heating, and cooling upgrades and free programmable thermostats for central air-conditioning systems worth $300 value.
For commercial and industrial customers, the company will offer partial funding for energy study and rebates and performance-based incentives for high-efficiency equipments.
Con Edison, energy saving programs form a part of its plan to lower electric demand by 500MWh by 2015 as part of the city’s and state’s energy-reduction goals.
