Comverge, Inc. (Comverge) has introduced new Apollo demand response management system for direct load control, price response and messaging. The Apollo Platform will manage residential and commercial demand management resources, while incorporating capabilities for plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle control, renewable resource management and future SmartGrid resources. The new Apollo platform features open architecture based on enterprise software standards using new web technologies.

Apollo has already earned industry acceptance; it is a key element of the Progress Energy Carolina EnergyWise demand response system to be developed and built by Comverge. Apollo will also be deployed by PEPCO Holdings, Inc.

Currently, Comverge customers operating its LMS system will have the opportunity to migrate to the powerful and versatile Apollo platform.

Key features of the new Apollo Platform include:

Open architecture based on enterprise software standards using the latest in web technologies.

Seamless management of assets including demand response control devices, programmable communicating thermostats, in-home displays, commercial and industrial control systems, PHEVs and renewable energy resources.

Intuitive operations providing system operators pin-point load reduction information.

Compliant with NERC security standards.

Integrated support for a variety of communicating devices and legacy demand response equipment,

Real-time operational performance analysis and optimization capabilities.

Web Service based architecture for integration with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and other utility back office systems, regardless of the communication method or network.

With Apollo, utilities will be able to further leverage their smart grid investments using a state-of-the-art platform. As the cornerstone of Comverge’s new breed of applications and systems, Apollo will provide our customers with a transitional platform that supports the traditional demand response systems of today yet is capable of integrating AMI and SmartGrid systems of the future, said Bud Vos, Comverge’s chief technology officer. Mr. Vos added, For the first time, Apollo users will be able to enjoy an integrated experience – ranging from customer service, utility operations, customer portals and program administration – that enables scalable utility operations for the SmartGrid. Comverge welcomes our customers to learn more about the innovative Apollo platform at our DistribuTECH Exhibition booth number 320, where we will be demonstrating Apollo’s features.

Robert M. Chiste, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Comverge, stated We welcome the opportunity to take this leadership position by introducing Apollo as another important stepping stone to advance AMI and smart grid applications and deployments.
